Profile

Amy Bream is a leading voice in the adaptive fitness community—a dedicated CrossFit athlete, trainer, and motivational speaker who empowers others to overcome adversity and redefine their limits. Born with proximal femoral focal deficiency (PFFD), a rare condition that resulted in the absence of most of her right leg, Bream has transformed what many perceive as a limitation into a source of strength and purpose.

Originally from a small town in Pennsylvania, Bream moved to Nashville in 2014 to pursue her passion for music. While music remains a deep source of inspiration, her life took a powerful turn when she discovered fitness through a kickboxing gym in 2015. Her journey into strength training began in 2019, ultimately leading her to the competitive CrossFit arena in 2021, where she quickly gained recognition for her tenacity, athleticism, and drive.

Bream not only competes at an elite level in adaptive CrossFit, but also coaches others through her specialized training program, “One Leg Up”, designed for both adaptive athletes and able-bodied individuals. Her approach to adaptive fitness blends physical resilience with mental grit, making her a sought-after figure in both the athletic and personal development spaces.

As a motivational speaker, Amy Bream shares her powerful story with companies, conferences, and organizations across the country—offering insights on perseverance, adaptation, and maximizing human potential. Her message of courage, discipline, and purpose continues to inspire countless individuals to push beyond perceived limitations.

Beyond The Sport With Amy Bream

What’s the biggest challenge in your life that you’ve overcome?

I mean the leg thing feels like low-hanging fruit at this point… But hey, growing up without a leg has been hard. I would say more mentally than the physical side of things. Physical obstacles tend to be pretty cut and dry, even if they are really hard. Mental and emotional growth/maturity…now THAT ish’ takes WORK.

What’s your morning routine?

Wake up (fun fact: I do not wake up at my first alarm. Call it lazy, unhealthy, stupid. Whatevs, I own it now. I legit set my alarm to be 30 min-1 hr before I actually have to get up, because that’s how I ensure I’m on time). Coffee, stretching and journal/quiet time - this is ideally done outside while my dog obnoxiously barks at squirrels. Breakfast, brush teeth, gym.

What are you most passionate about outside of your sport?

Watching other people actually start to believe and live out “I can do hard things.” Most often, we sell ourselves way short. I’m always trying to tell people that they’re never stuck - they can ALWAYS make changes to grow and improve, no matter how many legs they got.
